Social Hour: Maegan Tintari

Welcome to Social Hour, our blog series where we introduce you to members of the Socialix community. Writers, photographers, artists, videographers and social media enthusiasts will share their social media and blogging journeys.

For our next Social Hour installment, we connected with Maegan Tintari, the lifestyle blogger and DIY visionary behind … love Maegan. Maegan not only shares creative  fashion, decor and beauty tips, but also offers her readers personal glimpses into her life, relationships and journey as a content creator.

Do you remember writing your first blog post? What was it about?

I do actually and I think it went something basically like… “I started a blog, and this is going to be fun.” But in the first few months, I mostly complained about LA traffic and boring everyday life stuff. It took a while to figure out what …love Maegan was really going to be about and it took even longer to find my “voice” and purpose with it after the initial sort of blog boom.

Do you have a set schedule for managing your blogs and social media feeds? Any social media productivity tips to share?

Hmmm… I do, but it’s not sort of, set in stone. It’s my own kind of mental timeline I run on, just having a running to-do list that I check off. As far as tips go, I think it’s most beneficial to just be consistent, without becoming too predictable… because that gets boring.

What is the first social media network you check in the morning?

Snapchat.

If you could only have one app on your phone, what would it be?

Hahaha… Snapchat probably at the moment.

What are some of your favorite Instagram accounts right now?

Harold’s Finishing Touches and, Purdy London have been favorites forever. I love Miley’s though, too, she’s so great…  and really, any cute French Bulldog account.

How do you connect with your readers?

In the beginning it was through comments on my blog because there was no Twitter or Instagram or Pinterest or any social platforms really like there are now.  Facebook existed but it was more personal and less business then. But as the social media apps started popping up, the blog comments diminished and I mainly connect through social media now, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat mostly. I always respond to personal emails though {unless I accidentally miss them because my inbox is flooded} but I actually love when I get a real personal email where someone is asking for my advice on any subject… my response is usually the length of a novel, lol.

How do you find inspiration for new content?

I find inspiration in everything, anywhere. It could be real life, the internet, a movie, a song, nature, art… inspiration is truly everywhere as long as you’re open and aware enough to see it and let it take a hold of you. I rarely have a moment where I don’t know what I’m going to post actually.

What is your dream brand collaboration?

I’ve really gotten to work with some incredible brands, but I’d LOVE to collaborate with some of the major fashion houses like Gucci or Tom Ford.

What is your favorite part of running … love Maegan?

Getting to create my own schedule, managing my own time, working from home, doing what I love. I feel lucky every day.

What is your least favorite part of running … love Maegan?

Emails. I’ve been working with my agents for the last 3-4 years which have made so much of my job easier, but I still have to manage my emails and most days it’s pretty overwhelming.

What has been your most memorable post to date?

I’ve had a few posts that I’ve loved but didn’t get the engagement I thought they would, which is strangely typical. It’s always the ones you kind of just post and forget about that randomly go viral. But the one that I feel like kind of started it all was my very first DIY tutorial I posted back in 2009, my DIY Christian Louboutin Petal Sandals. When I look back at it, it’s very clumsy and poorly lit, and I’d love to redo it, but it was the sort of beginning of my DIY section on my blog, which was a common thread throughout my entire life, but up until that point, I wasn’t aware that there was a desire or need for it on the internet. But it remains my most memorable because it was featured and published everywhere online and in print. It was amazing really.

Is there one area of your blog or social media accounts that you’d really like to focus on this year?

I’m having so much fun on Snapchat right now, I hope it stays this cool forever, lol. With its limited options, it really and truly allows you to be in the  moment and share that exact moment of time vs how styled and curated and beautiful all the other platforms have become. I mean, they all have their place, and I still love Instagram and Pinterest, but there’s really something fun about the quick little bits from daily life that tell a story and a sort of behind the scenes look into work and life as a blogger, which I love. I’d like to focus a little more on making my Youtube channel more exciting though. Creating vlogs is just so time consuming that I always make excuses not to do it, but I feel like I’m really missing out on a great audience by not doing it regularly.

What’s your most used emoji?

Well, I have a few actually…
